Peritoneum
- Is the thin membrane that lines the abdominal wall.
- Covers the abdominal organs.
-Parietal peritoneum - gets blood supply from arteries in abdominal wall which then drains into systemic circulation.
-Visceral peritoneum - gets blood supply from mesenteric and coeliac arteries. The blood drains into the portal vein.
-The peritoneum also allows for the mesentery and omentum.
- The omentum hangs from the stomach and the large intestine
- The mesentery attaches the small intestine and part of the large intestine to the abdominal cavity.
